How To Get The Old Right Click Menu in Windows 11

Windows 11 comes with a different simplified right-click context menu style by default and the old right-click menu from previous versions of Windows is no longer present. But no worries, the good news is that you can still get back that old menu style by following our today’s step-by-step guide.

To get back the old right-click menu in Windows 11, follow the steps below:
- Click on the start button, type cmd, click on “Run as administrator” and then click Yes to open the Command Prompt.
- Type the below-given command and press the enter button or simply copy it and paste it into the Command Prompt.
reg add “HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\inprocServer32” /f /ve
- You will see a confirmation message “The operation completed successfully”. Close the Command Prompt and Restart your PC. After restarting your PC, you will see the menu is now changed to the old classic menu style. That’s it.
How To Restore The Right Click Menu to its Default New Menu Style
There are two ways to restore the right click-menu to its default Windows 11 new style. One is using the command prompt and the second is using Registry Editor. To restore right-click menu’s new style to its default using Registry Editor, follow the steps below:
- Open Registry Editor as an Administrator right by clicking on the start button, type regedit, click on “Run as administrator” and then click Yes.
- Now go to the below Registry path or you can simply copy the below path and paste it into the Registry Editor address bar area.
Registry Path: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID
- Expand the CLSID column and look for this folder 86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2 right click on it and Delete the whole folder. Now restart your PC and you will see the Windows 11 default new style right-click menu is back. That’s it
The second and easiest way to restore right-click menu’s new style to its default using Command Prompt. Here is how to do that:
- Open the Command Prompt as an Administrator right. Copy the below-given command, paste it into the Command Prompt, and press the enter button. After successful implementation, close the Command Prompt and Restart your PC. That’s it.
